To continue “rocking the golden rule,” Team Volusion recently participated in the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure, all in the name of supporting those affected by breast cancer in the local community.
Last Sunday, a team of 15 Volusioneers joined over 20,000 participants for the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure in Austin. The event’s purpose is to raise breast cancer awareness and generate donations for cancer research, prevention and medical services throughout Austin and the US.
With the big success of AIDS Walk Austin, we were eager for another opportunity to support such a great local cause. Over 75% of the money raised through the Komen Austin Affiliate goes directly to cancer research and prevention in local counties, including Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop and Caldwell.
It was a beautiful morning for a 5K, with the start line packed with energetic participants (and even a DJ booth)! With a start-off announcement for Team Volusion, we got off to a fast start. Half of our team chose to run and half chose to walk. The event was a success and everyone crossed the finish line in a spirited fashion.
One of our walkers, Amy Fitzgerald had this to say: “I’m grateful that Volusion gives employees the opportunity to participate in great local causes like the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure. It felt good to be walking for the cause knowing your company supports the cause, too.”
Thanks to our team in racing for this important cause! Check out the event highlights:
