How do I accept payment from my customers?
You have a number of options to accept payment from your customers, such as PayPal and dozens of leading payment gateways. Volusion also offers affordable and convenient credit card processing services to meet all of your payment needs.
Will you help me set up my store?
Yes. Our 24x7 support team is always here to answer your questions. We also have personal Account Managers available for Premium plans.
Do I need a domain name (URL) to purchase my store?
No. If you don't have your domain name yet, you have 30 days from purchase to provide us with one for your store. If you already have your domain, simply enter it on the checkout page. "Volusion" will not appear in your domain name.
Do I need an SSL certificate?
For security reasons, an SSL certificate is required to process credit card orders. For your convenience, we offer several high-security, affordable SSLs. While you don't have to purchase your SSL right now, you'll need one before you can accept any credit card payments through your site.
Do you charge transaction fees?
No. We don't believe in transaction fees. You worked hard for your profits – you should get to keep them.
How do I pay?
Simply enter your credit or debit card information on the checkout page. Depending on the plan you select, your card will be charged monthly or annually for the amount of your store plan. You can change credit card information at any time.
Can I upgrade my plan?
Yes. You can change plans at any time by contacting our Account Services team.
How does bandwidth billing work?
Volusion’s billing model is plan based. While we do not charge transaction fees, each plan includes a bandwidth allocation. The simplest option as you grow (and are more successful) is to upgrade in plans. As you move up in plans, you’ll enjoy the benefits of more features to help you sell even more. Alternatively, if you decide to stay in a smaller plan for awhile, you can simply pay in blocks of $7 per GB for any overage above your plan. For example, if you’re on the $25/mo plan and you go over by a GB, you can just pay $32 for that month instead of paying $75/mo for the upgraded plan. We measure bandwidth as all data transfers exiting the website. There are a number of simple strategies for keeping bandwidth usage low and our Customer Care and Design Services teams are very happy to help with this as needed. The vast majority of our merchants prefer the bandwidth model to a transaction-fee model as it proves to be more economical and allows for cost-effective scaling as your business grows. That said, Volusion also offers a personalized fixed-fee option for merchants who prefer fixed pricing to bandwidth overages. As you're considering other options, know that it's important to note that there is no such thing as true unlimited bandwidth - companies have unlimited bandwidth offerings because they outsource their hosting to a third party and that third party can’t help you understand how much bandwidth you use each month. What this means is that if you have an instance of running a promotion or marketing push that creates a huge spike in traffic, it is up to the third-party host to notice and allocate resources accordingly. They may not catch the spike and downtime can cost you thousands. If that does happen, the website can become strained and throttled. Things like DDOS attacks and website outages are common when bandwidth and servers are not maintained in-house and you’ll find all of our competitors use server farms outside the US, which could potentially cause even more issues as they aren’t even managed by the same companies. Volusion charges for bandwidth so we can ensure consistent site performance for all of our customers by monitoring our own servers 24/7. This allows us to guarantee and execute on 99.9% uptime. In fact, we delivered 99.95% uptime in 2016 and 99.99% so far in 2017. Additionally, instead of having a cost associated with this level of service, other providers may charge for how many orders you process in a month or straight percentages of your profit. We'd rather not do either of those two things and keep the cost of doing business within your control.
Can I move the data from my old store?
Yes, as long as your old provider allows you to export data in a .csv file. If you purchase a Plus plan or above, you can import large quantities of data, in bulk, directly into your new Volusion store.
Are you PCI certified?
Yes. Your sensitive data is crucial, which is why we continuously invest to exceed industry security standards. Volusion has been named to VISA's list of PCI Certified providers for six years running.
Is there a discount if I purchase multiple stores with Volusion?
Yes. When you purchase more than one store with us, you'll save 10% on each additional store. Simply enter "Please apply multi-store discount" in the order notes, and once our billing team verifies, we'll apply the discount to your order.
How do annual plans work?
Annual plans allow you to save 10% off the monthly plan by making a single payment yearly. If you have a monthly plan, you can switch to an annual plan by purchasing your preferred annual plan. Your account will automatically be updated. If you would like to upgrade your annual plan or notify us that you won’t be renewing it, please call us at 1-888-997-0994.
