Volusion recently joined the 2011 SXSW festivities, exhibiting at the tech-leading tradeshow and sending team members to soak up new knowledge at several educational sessions.
Volusion had an action-packed week at the South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi) tradeshow in its hometown of Austin, Texas.
The event’s tradeshow and exhibition hosted over 300 companies in the digital world showcasing their products and services, ranging from video games to web services. We had the honor of sharing our booth with our partner, Kevin Harman of Brand Labs.
The event was quite a success, with many attendees stopping by to see what Volusion is all about. Quite a few retailers and tech providers expressed interest in learning more about ecommerce and the products and services that Volusion and Brand Labs have to offer.
The swag at the booth helped make an impact as well! Volusion slap bracelets were all the rage at the event, and the printed version of the How to Choose a Shopping Cart infographic was a hit too. The bright yellow t-shirts were the envy of all the attendees and exhibitors and became the must-have t-shirt of the event. Tech Crunch even came by to check out the action and featured Volusion on its blog (around minute 19:00).
SXSWi also gave the Volusion design department the chance to roll out its Clash of the Templates design contest. This unique contest gives designers the chance to create a template design for an ecommerce site and enter to win an iPad or Flip video camera. The contest will run through April 15 and all the details can be found on the site.
Finally, SXSWi provided an excellent opportunity for some of the marketing team to learn more about what’s going on in the interactive world. Several Volusioneers had the chance to attend compelling presentations from some of the brightest minds in emerging technology. Some of the topics included: social media, design, customer relationships and messaging.
SXSWi is always a welcome event for our team. It’s inspiring to be surrounded by so many energetic, innovative minds and creative thought leaders.
