Volusion has been named finalists in three categories in the 8th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business, including Best Executive, Mentor/Coach of the Year and Communications/PR Campaign of the Year.
We don’t need to be told that we’ve got some truly awesome women on the Volusion team, but it’s always nice to be reminded, especially by an organization as prestigious as the Stevie Awards.
This year, two of our leaders and one of our campaigns have been named finalists in the 8th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. More than 1,300 entries — a record for the competition — were submitted this year by organizations and individuals around the world for consideration in 75 categories, so to land three finalists is quite the accomplishment.
The honorees include:
- Best Executive – Service Businesses: Guliz Sicotte, Director of Services
- Mentor or Coach of the Year: Steffanie Halstead, Vice President of Support
- Communications or PR Campaign of the Year – Social Media Focused: Volusion’s Mompreneur Makeover Contest
These nominations are extra special to us, as we pride ourselves on crafting an environment that fosters great leaders. Many amazing women hold vital leadership roles in the organization, ranging from VPs to Directors and General Counsel. Even more, we’ve got a great pool of female talent throughout each department that’s stepping up to make a huge difference in achieving our goals.
Guliz Sicotte, Director of Services
Guliz Sicotte has been an integral part of the growth of Volusion, specifically the Services Department. As Director of Services, Guliz has led the way to create and offer new marketing and design services to help Volusion merchants become more successful with their online stores. Her creativity and innovative thinking in developing strategic plans for each service has led to astounding profit growth, and her marketing and design staff has doubled in the last year.
Guliz is a Google Adwords Qualified Professional, and completed the Project Management Institute program. Her specialties include internet marketing, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, web analytics, customer relationship management, email marketing, viral marketing, project management and account management.
Previously, Guliz worked as Director of Client Services at Pop Labs, Quality Contractor at Google, Inc. and Marketing Consultant at PGS Consulting.
Steffanie Halstead, Vice President of Support
Steffanie Halstead makes it her mission to develop bright new leaders within her organization. Her professional and personal objective is to mentor others to become mentors themselves. With 80+ individuals on her team, this may seem like a daunting task, but she has effectively transformed frontline support representatives into leaders, establishing a proven program that turns customer service representatives into ecommerce technology wizards.
Steffanie won the Volusion Pathfinder Award in December 2010 for her accomplishments and for introducing innovative ideas and programs to the organization. She drives the employee onboarding for new technical support reps, and her coaching/mentoring program has ensured that her reps succeed and advance within the Volusion organization.
Prior to coming to Volusion, Steffanie was the Senior Manager in Customer Experience/Business Excellence at Dell and the Customer Retention Manager at Intuit.
Mompreneur Makeover Contest
A growing trend in ecommerce is for moms to open their own online store to help provide for their families while keeping the freedom to be with their children. The Volusion Mompreneur Makeover Contest was born because Volusion desires to recognize these hardworking women. Volusion supports moms who perform the toughest jobs possible: running a business and being a mom.
The goal of the contest was to give mompreneurs a chance to share their stories and reward the four most inspiring entries. Entry questions included: 1) Tell us the story behind your business. 2) What have you learned from your kids that has helped you run your business better? 3) Why are you and your business ready for a makeover? 4) What makes you a SuperMompreneur?
The Grand Prize Winner received an iPad2, $4000 in web design services and a $250 gift card to a spa of their choice. Three runners up were given a $50 Visa gift card and an $1100 social media design package.
The winners will be announced on November 11 in New York City. A portion of each ticket sold for the awards dinner will be contributed to Camfed, which fights poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa by educating girls and empowering women to become leaders of change.
Big congratulations to the finalists – wish us luck for a triple win in NYC!
