Google Mobile Update Rollout
On April 21st, the highly anticipated Google mobile algorithm update was released. As we previously discussed, the update places importance on having a mobile friendly website and only impacts mobile search results. By May 1st, Google will have made its way through their entire index, and webmasters will be able to notice the effects of the update.
Instagram Rolling Out Click-To-Shop Ads
In a move to slowly enter the e-commerce space, Instagram is now allowing advertisers to link directly to product pages in their ads, a feature previously unavailable. This is the first of what is expected to be several new ad features introduced on Instagram this year. But the social platform will proceed with caution with this feature and others so as not to irritate their user base of 300 million.
Amazon Launches Dash Button
The Amazon Dash Button allows Amazon customers to instantly order every day, household products with the touch of a button. Simply place the magnetized button around your house to easily order things like laundry detergent, razors, coffee and more. The Dash Button is currently only available to Amazon Prime members.
Facebook Fights Fake Likes
On April 17th, Facebook released a blog post outlining the significant strides the company has made over the past six months to eliminate fake likes. Thanks to advances in pattern recognition technology, Facebook is now able to identify suspicious activity more easily and prevent fake likes from ever reaching a business page. In addition, Facebook is notifying page administrators when fake likes are removed or blocked.
