3 - Upload Images

Aside from importing product data to your store, you can also bulk upload product images corresponding to specific product codes using the Volusion Thumbnail Generator. This tool eliminates the hassle of individually uploading images, giving you more time to focus on other things (like running your awesome ecommerce store)!

Do you have products with multiple options and images? You can bulk upload these as well with the Volusion FTP feature.

4 - Migrate Content Pages

You can easily add informational pages to your website by going to Design > Site Content. Make sure to personalize your content pages to keep your customers engaged and provide an overall better shopping experience!

5 - Connecting Shipping and Payments

Next, you'll want to configure your payment and shipping settings.

Volusion accepts a wide variety of payment gateways as well as offering an in-house merchant service that is both secure and convenient. Check our full list of supported payment gateways here or apply for Volusion Payments.

Don’t forget to set up your shipping methods as well! Connect your carrier for live shipping rates or charge your customers a flat shipping fee(or even better, offer Free Shipping!)

6 - Adding 301 Redirects

A very important step of migrating ecommerce platforms is to forward your old site’s URLs to their respective destination on the new platform. 301 redirects will create a seamless transition for you and your customers while also preserving your SEO value for your new store.

7 - Test your new store

Make sure everything is working properly by going to your store as a customer and following through with the checkout process, double checking that the payment gateway and shipping methods are setup correctly. Other important aspects to test are the main links on your storefront, categories and navigation menus.

8 - Go live - Point your domain!

Finally, once you are ready to go live, you will need to point your domain name to the Volusion DNS servers. Contact your domain name host and redirect the name servers for root domain migrations or create a CNAME record for sub-domain sites. This process can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Once the domain name is successfully pointed, your online store will be live!
