How to Increment OrderIDs, PO numbers, RMA numbers, and CustomerIDs:
When you first go live with your store, you'll want to increment your OrderIDs and CustomerIDs to begin at around 1000 or higher, since by default all ID numbers begin at 1. If your first few customers place an order and receive OrderID # 2 for example, they may get suspicious and concerned about being only the 2nd customer. Furthermore, if you're moving from another shopping cart system, you'll want to begin OrderIDs about where they left off from the old shopping cart.
1) From the home page of the admin area click "Maintenance Tools".
2) Click the "Close my Store".
3) You'll now see some additional links on this page, including "Auto-Increment current OrderID numbers". Click this link.
4) Now from this page you'll be able to increment the 4 table IDs mentioned. Please remember that you cannot go back. Once you increment up to a certain number there is no way to go back down.

Upgrading your store database to SQL Server
1) Click "Close your store for maintenance"
from the home page of your admin area.
2) On this next page, click the "Close Store" button. You should now see a "Maintenance Toolbox".
3) Click the link "How to upgrade from MSAccess to SQL Server database".
4) Follow the instructions on this page.
This upgrade will keep all your existing data from your MSAccess database,
and copy it into your SQL database.
It is important to follow the instructions on the above mentioned page, which basically describes how to use the Microsoft Access Upsize Wizard tool to upsize to create and populate the SQL Database. This is the only upsize method that is supported. Please note that using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager Import tools are NOT supported due to the differences in the way it attempts to upsize the data, it would cause errors when attempting to run your store. |
